On August 2 – 3, 2022, Upstate Capital hosted an exclusive event for our Board of Directors, annual sponsors and invited guests in Saratoga Springs. The Annual Saratoga Forum consisted of two days of curated content including CEO and investor conversations and exceptional networking with M&A and PE professionals, entrepreneurs, C-suite executives and industry leaders.
On Day One, we met at the Saratoga Hilton Garden Inn in Saratoga Springs for a panel discussion of entrepreneurs and investors from Saratoga to provide some insights on their dynamic innovation work. This panel included Mike Kocan, the Venture Capital Investor & General Partner of Outbound Capital; Taylor and Brett Sohns, the Co-Founders of Life Goal Investments; and Catherine Hover, Founder & CEO of Palette Community. Their panel moderator was Rai Archibold, Managing Director, Schwartz Heslin Group.
All attendees were invited to Boca Bistro for a networking reception.
We kicked off Day Two at the Saratoga Racetrack by hearing from a group of investors who are actively investing in Upstate New York. This panel included David Brown, Managing Partner of Impellent Ventures and Upstate Capital Board member; Elisa Miller-Out, Managing Partner of Chloe Capital; Marcia Mitchell, Director at New York Ventures; and Brian Model, Upstate Capital Board member and Managing Partner at Topmark Partners. The conversation was moderated by Todd Tidgewell, Partner and Corporate Practice Leader at Nixon Peabody.
Following their conversation, Hugh Johnson joined us to give his annual Saratoga Forum economic outlook. Hugh serves as the Chairman Emeritus of Graypoint LLC and Chairman of Hugh Johnson Advisors. He also serves as Chief Economist of both. In this position, he assists in managing $2.1 billion in equity, fixed income, and cash investments for individual and institutional clients and as a consultant to $1.3 billion in institutional assets.
After the panels, the group headed to the Saratoga Race Course for lunch, networking and racing.
