Buffalo Private Equity Summit brought together private equity and M&A transaction professionals from across the Rust Belt and beyond to Buffalo on Tuesday, May 23, 2023. The 4th annual Summit was sponsored by Hamilton Lane, Bluehenge Capital, and our new partners: Bannockburn Global Forex, SLB Capital, and Carleton McKenna. The event opened with a reception hosted by Carleton McKenna and tasting tables showcasing local proprietors.

Sam Ticknor, Principal at Union Hill Advisors, and member of the Upstate Capital board of Directors started off the content by welcoming Chris McKenna of Carleton McKenna to the stage. Chris shared about their firms strong connections to Western NY and introduced the panelists for the first conversation: CEO & Investor Perspectives with Lane Wiggers, Managing Director of Argosy PE, Greg Burkholder the Former CEO and President of Fairway Building Products, Jeff Bause the CEO, Groome Industrial Services, and moderated by Lidore DeRose, Senior Partner on the Transaction Risk team at BRP.

Followed by a conversation about funding sources, and how financiers are looking at deals in Q2 2023 given current economic conditions. Panel moderator Kevin Bodnar from Withum was joined by Dominic Mammarella of Hamilton Lane, Sean Moskal from KeyBank and Scott Merkle of SLB Capital Advisors.

The keynote conversation featured Centivo founder and CEO Ashok Subramanian with investors Dan Hartman of Morgan Health Ventures, Adam Seabrook of B Capital Group and moderator Rai Archibold, Managing Director at Schwartz Heslin Group. The discussion centered around funding growth with private equity and how that has supported the growth of Centivo.

The final presentation was from Marc Chandler the Chief Market Strategist of Bannockburn Global Forex where he shared his insights on the current global market. Chandler has been covering the global capital markets for more than 30 years, including stints as the global head of currency strategy for both HSBC and Brown Brothers Harriman.
