Upstate Capital is excited to welcome Thomas Boomhower as our new Senior Director of Program Management. Thomas brings a wealth of experience in economic development, public policy and strategic communications, all aimed at expanding access to capital, fostering entrepreneurship and enriching communities across Upstate New York.
In his role, Thomas leads key initiatives like the New York Business Plan Competition (NYBPC) and the Invest NY innovation ecosystem data platform. His responsibilities encompass event production, grant and sponsorship development, stakeholder engagement and strategic program design, all focused on accelerating regional growth and opportunity.
Previously, Thomas served as the Economic Development Specialist for Greene County, NY, where he played a pivotal role in supporting local businesses and driving economic and community development initiatives. He holds a B.S. from Russell Sage College and an M.A. in American History from SUNY Albany.
His experience and commitment to strengthening the innovation economy make him an exciting addition to our team. We look forward to the impact his leadership will have on our mission to support entrepreneurs, investors and communities throughout the region.
Thomas’s creativity and curiosity extend beyond his professional endeavors. Outside of work, he co-hosts Highkey Obsessed, a deep-dive podcast where he and his co-host explore misunderstood and understudied histories. He is also an avid reader with a deep interest in history, science and storytelling.
