On February 15, 2024 investment professionals gathered at the Saturn Club in Buffalo to hear from leading investors from Seneca Holdings and Armory Square Ventures about their unique perspectives and investment strategies for 2024.
The day opened with Somak Chattopadhyay, Managing Partner at Armory Square Ventures. He shared his optimistic outlook for the coming year. Some of the key points of his presentation were:
- The technology sector is performing 2x better than the median performance for most other sectors.
- AI is booming as Generative AI allowed OpenAI to ~460x revenue from $4M in 2020 to over $1.6B in 2023
- Exit potential for IPOs and M&A are improving
The program continued with a conversation between Holly Mergenhagen, Director of Corporate Development for Seneca Holdings, and Matt Pelkey, Managing Partner at Colligan Law.
They discussed Seneca Holdings’ nascent private equity program, how it developed over time, and how their unique position in the market allows them to be more creative in how they structure their deals to leverage the sovereign benefits of the Seneca Nation for the benefit of their portfolio companies.
