Welcome Upstate Capital’s Newest Member David Brown

Managing Director of Impellent Ventures

David Brown is the Founding Managing Director of Rochester-based Venture Capital firm, Impellent Ventures. The firm partners with founders from the earliest stage and works alongside them until exit. Impellent Ventures invests across validation, acceleration, and growth stages. Loving his work is easy for David. He believes the best opportunities in his line of work are “Helping entrepreneurs turn visions into realities, learning about new markets, and connecting great people together to change the world.”

“The future of Western New York and Upstate New York is in building within our community,” and David supports how “Upstate Capital is spearheading efforts to bring the community together.”

David is focused on people, not industries. “The future of cities is led by entrepreneurial vision, responsiveness, and cross-sector innovation, not specialization.”

Denny DeLeo is also joining the Impellent Ventures team. David calls him “The O.G.” because of his experience in investing in startups since the 80s. Denny is the Managing Partner at Impellent as well as the President of Venture Jobs Foundation and a member of the Upstate Capital Board of Directors.
