MEMBER NEWS

Buffalo based Launch NY is giving startup investors the opportunity to support three local companies led by diverse founders for as little as $5,000. During the month of June and into July, accredited investors can invest in AireXpert, Arbol and CaHill Tech through Launch NY’s online investor network

Pia Sawhney, Partner and Co-Founder of Armory Square Ventures speaks with Elizabeth MacBride, writing for Forbes Magazine, about the rise of Upstate, the impact of a recession on Upstate startups, and her experience as a woman in finance. Pia states, “Venture capital has a role to play, not necessarily through financing, but through counseling, making introductions, guidance, providing support and networks that a lot of you know, women and minority founders don’t have access to.”

Buffalo-based 43North is increasing their check sizes to make five $1 million investments through their accelerator program. “We took time to evaluate our offering and feel that this move, coupled with the value of our programming, ensures that we’ll remain competitive and continue to attract the top startups to our region,” said Colleen E. Heidinger, president of 43North.
