VENTURE FOR CLIMATETECH APPLICATIONS OPEN
Hosted by Upstate Capital member NextCorps, Venture For ClimateTech is a non-profit global venture studio and accelerator program. Applications are open until close of day March 4 to get one-on-one support, best-practice programming for startups, and up to $100K in funding. NEW STUDY: MORE JOBS AT
VC-BACKED COMPANIES
Venture Forward has partnered with NVCA and the University of North Carolina Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise to produce new research on employment dynamics at VC-backed companies. Their findings show employment at VC-backed companies grew 960% from 1990 and 2020 at a pace 8x that of employment at non-VC-backed companies.

WP STRATEGIC HOLDINGS
ACQUISITION
WP Strategic Holdings, an Albany-based investment group, has acquired a majority stake in Larry’s All-Natural, a manufacturer of six types of salsas and cooking sauces. WP Strategic Holdings expects that by 2025, sales of Larry’s All-Natural will increase five-fold. Larry’s is the second acquisition in the food space for WP Strategic Holdings.

SEC: NEW RULES TARGETING
ADVISORS TO PRIVATE FUNDS
The SEC has recently proposed new rules and amendments to enhance the regulation of private fund advisers and to protect private fund investors by increasing transparency, competition and efficiency. SEC Chair Gary Gensler said, “I support this proposal because, if adopted, it would help investors in private funds on the one hand, and companies raising capital from these funds on the other.”
