Upstate Capital to Host Invest NY: Women’s Health on September 16 Online

Invest NY Women's Health

For Immediate Release – September 8, 2021

New Paltz, New York – The Upstate Capital Association of New York and NYSTAR will host Invest NY: Women’s Health online from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 16, 2021. The event will feature startups growing in New York that create better access, care and outcomes for women’s health.

Women’s health is a new focal point for investors. More research and more investment dollars are going into solving healthcare challenges that are specific to women such as breast cancer and ovarian cancer, fertility, pregnancy, birthing, and menopause. Some healthcare issues disproportionately affect women like infant care, but others such as heart disease (which is the leading cause of death among women) have not had solutions developed which meaningfully consider gender as a factor. Paired with broader industry trends in digital health, like monitoring and tracking, UAS use in providing medical care, and AI use in diagnostics paired with electronic health records, there is lots of innovation impacting women’s health, and increasingly, interest in investment in the sector.

“The Invest NY Series events connect innovators, business leaders and investors with opportunities to work together, and we’re excited to explore this important and increasingly prominent subsector, particularly within New York, ” said Noa Simons, President and CEO of Upstate Capital.

The event will start with an invitation-only CEO Roundtable for founders, followed by three-minute company introductions from eleven startups. All attendees will hear from investors and business leaders, including a CEO and investor partnership conversation by Noa Simons of Upstate Capital with Andrea Ippolito of SimpliFed and Meghan Rice of KID Venture Capital. Following, there will be a panel of people leading initiatives that have substantial impact on commercializing technology and innovation related to women and wellness. This panel will be moderated by Jordan Taylor Sloan of NYSTAR, Kathi Durdon of Central New York Biotech Accelerator, Maneesha Ghiya of FemHealth Ventures, Minolee Vora of Rethink Impact and Jahan Ali of the BioVenture eLab at Weill Cornell Medical. Finally, a panel of investors will have a conversation about their perspectives on the industry and trends they can identify within the space, including Momo Bi of Venture NY and Gwen Cheni of IndieBio NY.

Tickets are available online. Information and updates about the event, including the agenda and speakers, can be found on the website. Press and entrepreneur passes are available. Please contact info@upstatecapital.org for more information about the event or Upstate Capital.
