Recap: 2019 Buffalo PE Summit
Private equity investors, executives, bankers and dealmakers came together in Buffalo on May 15, 2019 for Upstate Capital’s inaugural Buffalo PE Summit, from Boston, NYC, Pittsburgh and Chicago. The event was sponsored by local and national leaders in private equity and mergers/acquisitions transactions, including Graycliff Partners, Hamilton Lane, Marsh Insurance, Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman, Chiampou Travis Besaw & Kershner, BankOnBuffalo, Bluehenge Capital Partners and Lakelet Capital.
The pre-event reception took place at the Labatt Brew House in Downtown Buffalo, where attendees gathered to meet and network.
The main event was hosted at the Pierce Arrow Museum, a Buffalo mainstay featuring an impressive collection of automobiles, bicycles, motorcycles, Pierce-Arrow artifacts, an original Jello Wagon, and a complete replica of the 1927 Buffalo Filling Station by Frank Lloyd Wright. The museum’s founder and owner, Jim Sandoro, gave a private tour to attendees.
The program was introduced by Upstate Capital Board President and Managing Director at Lakelet Capital, Randy Bianchi. He set the stage for a panel discussion on Private Equity highlights and trends. David Helgerson, Managing Director at Hamilton Lane, moderated the panel of industry leaders including John Hartwell, CEO of Matrix Imaging Solutions, John Koeppel, Partner at Lippes Mathias Wexler Friedman LLP and Ryan Sakamoto, Senior Vice President at Marsh, Inc.
Following the evolution of a transaction, the panel touched on pre-deal considerations, the CEO’s perspective in working with a variety of PE firms, getting a deal done, and post-transaction dynamics. Who knew that rep and warranty insurance could captivate an audience?
Following the event, Bluehenge Capital Partners sponsored a post-event reception at 716 Food and Sport.
