Our keynote Speaker was Martin Babinec of UpVentures and Upstate Venture Connect. Sam Ticknor, board member at Upstate Capital and principal of Union Hill Advisors, joined Martin to discuss Martin’s perspectives on company and ecosystem building, investing in startups, and writing a book!  Martin’s book, More Good Jobs, which has just been released.

The Venture Upstate panel featured investors across New York. We heard from Jennifer Tegan from New York Ventures, David Brown of Impellent Ventures, Dan Penberthy from Rand Capital, Brian Model of Topmark Partners, and Somak Chattopadhyay from Armory Square Ventures. Mario Fallone, partner at Harter Secrest and Emery, moderated the discussion. Mario is a venture lawyer based in Rochester NY.  The panelists discussed their latest deals and strategies for supporting their portfolio companies.
